Automatic stability refers to aircraft design features intended to maintain its orientation in flight. Phraseology along these lines comes up very early in the Twentieth Century, with an observable increase starting in the 1910s.

Presently, the theoretical and applied variations on the principles upon which automatic stability is achieved are being elaborated on the page stability. The factor of automaticity is not always exclusive, and, from time to time, these principles interact.
