Motorluftschiff Studiengesellschaft m.b.H
The Motorluftschiff Studiengesellschaft, m.b.H, or Motorized Airship Study Society may have been a company or may have been a not-for-profit organization.[1] The study group was to bring in professionals from all fields of aviation and the auxiliary sciences to examine the conditions for the development of aviation, including the state of technical training. The work was distributed to several specialized groups. The work of the meteorological group led to the publication in 1910 of the report Die Winde in Deutschland (The Wind in Germany) by Richard Assmann. The dynamic group, under the leadership of Prandtl, established an experimental station in Gottingen. The machinery group sponsored contests in September 1907 and April 1909 that were said to have revealed remarkable new designs for aircraft engines. What appears to have been the construction group under Captain von Kehler tested the balloon engine system von Parseval at Reinickendorf West near Berlin.
The Motorluftschiff Studiengesellschaft was founded 31 July 1906 at the suggestion of the German emperor, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and under the patronage of Prince Ernst of Saxony-Altenberg who was named honorary president. The German Secretary of State, von-Hollman, was named chairman of the board and Captain von Kehler and Major Dr. August von Parseval were named managing directors. It appears that von Parseval was the director and secretary in 1910.
The company published a report, Jahrbuch der Motorluftschiff-Studiengesellschaft, the first issue of which contains its bylaws and fifty-nine shareholders, breaking down their contributions to its capital stock of 1,000,000 Marks.[2]
