Patent FR-1910-420463
This patent's original document makes priority date reference to a German patent filed 1909-05-03, said claimed patent therefore likely being the parent of Patent HU-1910-55431 and Patent GB-1910-12819 as well, and with yet other offspring patents likely to be found.
This invention features a device for the maintenance of airplanes in the balanced position, characterized by the fact that the surfaces of lift and support are interrupted at the medial point of the apparatus, each side being able to be set at the point separately an independently from one another under the entire angle of inclination desired relative to the trajectory of propulsion, in the interests of being able to constantly maintain the totality of the apparatus in a balanced horizonatl position all relative to the ascension and the descent of the aircraft as well as any turns.
The lift surfaces, of the biplane in the example given, are linked to one another in the manner of a parallelogram by way of articulated connection stems situated between the wings by way of fixed and knotched arc segments in a manner appropriate to the connection stems of the knotched wheels meshing or gearing in these segments in a manner actuated from the pilot seat and having the ability to be set at point relative to the two sides independently of one another under whichever angle of inclination can be precisely fixed relative to the direction of the propulsion.
When the airplane inclines upwardly, the lift surface position necessary for restoring equilibrium is given automatically to the surfaces of control, rudders and so forth, by way of oscillation or displacement of pendulum via an inclination change mechanism with knotched pinions.
When the airplane inclines, an inclination change mechanism with knotched pinions is managed therein by the oscillation of a pendulum with control derived from the motor shaft or with a special command motor designed in the interests of automatic angular adjustment of all pertinent surfaces, whether of lift or control, angular positioning in the interests of re-establishment of the aircraft's balanced position.
