Demonstration given 1 September 1916 under auspices of the Aero Club of America.

Sperry's aircraft used bright electric lights run off a wind-powered generator and a backup battery.

"The machine, entirely operated by the Sperry automatic pilot, which controls its course and maintains its even keel, covered the distance between Moriches and Amityville [50 miles] in an hour and forty five minutes..."
