Projectile

From Inventing aviation
Jump to navigation Jump to search

A projectile is a body which is launched through the air with an initial propulsive force but doesn't exactly fly on its own. There is some overlap between projectiles and aircraft technology, mainly around the issue of aerodynamics.

This database includes a number of patents for projectiles which have some bearing on aeronautics proper and/or came up in systematic searches in lists or categories of patents. Most of them get a 0.5 rating in the "related to aircraft" category.

There's a good deal of overlap between the "projectile" classification and the military classification. (Most "projectile" is "military" though plenty of "military" isn't "projectile".)
