Three quite distinct uses are described in the abridgment:

  1. Use of balloons for electrical transmission, telegraphic purposes, and reconnaissance;
  2. Use of compressed air for launching a projectile;
  3. Use of electric battery with explosive gas.
  • This patent was "Provisional only"
  • Brewer and Alexander spelled the third name as Francisse, but it's Francis according to French Wikipedia.[1]
