Luftschiffbau Zeppelin G. m. b. H. (Zeppelin aerial-vessel-building) was a company founded by Ferdinand von Zeppelin in 1908. (G. m. b. H. = GmbH = Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung = limited liability company = LLC)

Subsidiaries of this company included Deutsche Luftschiffahrts-Aktiengesellschaft (DELAG), which provided transportation for passengers between major cities in Germany, and Dornier Metallbauten G. m. b. H., which built metal airplanes.

During the war, Luftschiffbau Zeppelin was thoroughly interlinked with the German military (in which von Zeppelin himself was a general); DELAG's airships were commandeered. Afterwards, airship production was suspended under the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, but personnel and facilities were largely retained and temporarily repurposed.[1]
