Claude (Claudius) Dornier was an aero inventor working sometimes with Zeppelin. Some of his patents, filed in conjunction with Luftschiffbau Zeppelin, are for airship hangars.

Some German patent data has him Dipl.-Ing. accredited and filing from "Friedrichshafen a. B.", filing in conjunction with Zeppelin Werk Lindau.[1] On German Wikipedia "Friedrichshafen a. B." drop-down menu prompts to Friedrichshafen (Begriffsklärung), which page includes Flugzeugbau Friedrichshafen, our Flugzeugbau Friedrichshafen GmbH.

In 1912 Zeppelin chose Dornier to head a subdivision of Lutschiffbau Zeppelin focused on developing heavier-than-air vessels, specifically metal airplanes. During the war Dornier ran a large workshop in Seemos (now part of Friedrichshafen) with dozens of engineers and hundreds of workmen, producing various types of all-metal airplanes. This facility at some point (before 1922) became called Dornier Metallbauten G. m. b. H..[2]

He designed over 100 aircraft and there is a museum about his life and work.[3]
