Heinrich Suter was an aero inventor, in Kappel, Canton of Zürich, Switzerland.

Suter developed an airship which he patented internationally in 1899 and tested on Lake Constance in 1901.This airship comprised a large bullet shape balloon, a sail above, and below a car with saddle for pilot, pedals, a double propeller, rudder, and steering machinery.[1] Aeronautical Journal reported in July 1901 that Suter's first trial did not succeed.[2]

He also received some patents for a mountain trolley system powered by captive balloon.

Heinrich Suter the inventor from the Zürch area might be the same person as Heinrich Suter (1848–1922), the historian of Islamic mathematics and astronomy, also from the Zürich area. Haven't yet found an article definitively showing whether they are the same person or not. There is also a Zürich-born zoologist Hans Heinrich "Henry" Suter (1841–1918) but he moved to New Zealand in 1886 and is unlikely to be the aero inventor.
