Paul Renard
Paul Renard (1854–1933) was an aero engineer in the French military. He worked with his brother Charles Renard at Chalais-Meudon.
He became sous-directeur of the Aerostatic Park in 1888 and head of the research laboratory in 1903. In 1909 he introduced a course on aeronautics to the Sorbonne.[1]
[Paul Renard rose through the ranks to become Commandant and then Lieutenant-Colonel; c. 1900 "Commandant Renard" refers to Paul Renard, whereas "Colonel Renard" is his brother Charles. Both are high ranks, below general, with Colonel highest, then Lieutenant-Colonel, then Commandant. Some care might be taken at some point to ascertaining the dates of their respective promotions, in order distinguish the identity of, e.g. "M. le Commandant Renard'.]
