"Schichtenkarten" might mean topographic maps but might refer to another sophisticated type of map.
Note five-year period between submission and publication; technically we don't how much delay occurs between 'submitted' and 'granted' or between 'granted' and 'published'. However, we can notice that the number given to this patent falls in series with patents that were filed and granted in the 1906–1908 period.
