Francis Alexander Barton was a British aero inventor, a surgeon and a physician. He was the founder of the Aeronautical Institute and Club.

Barton founded or was otherwise associated with a project to build an airship called the Britannica in 1913-1914. John Wulffing and Aladar de Bajza worked on its design. The project was not completed.[1]
