U.S. Patent Classification (USPC) class 114 is for ships.[1]

Some of these patents are relevant insofar as propulsion methods -- propellers and jets -- overlap with methods used in the air. Another overlap has to do with control and navigation mechanisms. In the 19th century French system, marine and balloon patents were in the same category. Hydrofoils and airfoil on ships are included.
