Nikolay Yegorovich Zhukovsky (Никола́й Его́рович Жуко́вский; also transliterated Joukovski with other variants; 1847–1941) was a Russian areo inventor and professor of mathematics at Moscow Higher Technical School.

Zhukovsky created a wind tunnel, said to be the third in Europe, in 1891.[1]

In 1895 Zhukovsky visited Otto Lilienthal in Berlin and bought a glider.[2]

Zhukovsky published many papers on aerodynamics and hydrodynamics. Two especially notable ones in 1906 described lift of an airfoil.[2]
