This atelier was founded by Gabriel Yon and later run by Édouard Surcouf, eventually transforming into the Société de Constructions Aéronautiques.[1]

González Redondo and Redondo Alvarado describe this group as the first French aeronautics company, properly beginning in 1880 though earlier efforts by Yon began in 1870. It's mentioned in connection with "Établissement Central d’Aérostation Réunis del Ingé- nieur Gabriel Yon".[1]

Its workshop was located at Rue de Bellevue 121–123, Billancourt, with a central office at Avenue de la Bourdonnais, 2, Paris.[1]
