Demars was an aero inventor, and a landlord, 276, rue Saint-Honoré, Paris, département Seine, France. The below-attached patent was indeed registered with the French Patent Office, with the specifically aero-designated national tech category FR 6, with claims of terrestrial, marine, and air travel and-or propulsion. I've attached images of the most conservative, or established, along with the most fanciful, of crafty designated under "velocipede". The term has most fundamentally to do with human exertion as a power source. The attached French image has to do with an alleged "Vélocipédomanie" which likely varied along the scale of solid workability, with or without stretched the principle of "innovation", all the way to these more fanciful ideas profoundly imaginative but of dodgy workability.

Aside from the claim of land, water, and air travel, Demars' innovation seems to feature a reduction rather than an increase, in normally assumed apparatus.
