Professor Charles Frederick Marvin (7 October 1848 – 5 June 1943) was a meteorologist who worked in some capacity for the U.S. Weather Bureau from 1884 to 1934. He was head of the Bureau from 1913 to 1934.[1]
Cleveland Abbe (also a Weather Bureau oldtimer) mentions in a 1903 letter to Wilbur Wright that Marvin informed him about the Wright Brothers' activities at Kitty Hawk.
In 1897, Marvin wrote The Mechanics and Equilibrium of Kites, as a submission for the Chanute prize offered by the Boston Aeronautical Society.[2]
