The Westpreussischer Verein fur Luftschiffahrt or West Prussian Association for Aerial Navigation was founded at Danzig on 27 Nov. 1909. It joined the DLV (German Aeronaut Federation : Deutscher Luftschiffer-Verband) in January 1910.

On 27 Nov. 1909, Professor Schutte was elected chairman. Other officers from then include Captain Boisseree, vice chairman; Dr. Schucht, secretary and office manager; Claus, deputy secretary; and O. Schafer, treasurer. The association had 130 members, including three balloon guides. It owned one free balloon and used the Stadtisches Gasanstalt (Municipal Gas Works), Danzig, as its balloon place.
