Raúl Pateras Pescara was an Argentine-born Italian engineer who focused on helicopter designs, aka autogyro designs.

Pescara was designing and tinkering with aircraft before WWI.[1] He was an important designer of helicopters in the 1920s. Jewkes, Sawers and Stillerman, 1969 say that Pescara was one of the most influential early engineers/designers of helicopters.

He was born in Buenos Aires then moved with family at a young age (back) to Italy. In the 1920s he sometimes filed patents from Barcelona.[1]
