Patent GB-1867-549

This patent must have been initiated by the same J-A-A Fontaine who wrote Fontaine, 1867, The improved aerial railroad, an Exposition of a new system of aero-locomotion. One expects a French original but it's not coming up in the database.
One might speculate that applicant A. V. Newton could be the father in Newton & Son, with typical dates coming closer to 1900.
[Provisional protection only], it says in the Abridgment—but this Abridgments was written in 1903, so why the uncertain status?
