Patent US-1889-417755 by David Thayer describes a system of kites used to pull vessels, such as rafts with passengers or cargo, across the water.

"Aero-as-power" is a tentative classification used to identify aeronautic technologies envisioned as power sources for land and water. Mainly these technologies use the power of atmospheric wind by means of captive kites, balloons, etc., which can pull vessels below.
