This apparatus includes an aiming device in which the line of sight passes through an upper hole and through a hemispheric lens placed below ; the device is mounted to a universal joint and it includes the means of compensating for the movement effected by balloon or airplane changes in speed, such that the means which automatically the aiming when the wind blows laterally.
This apparatus, or arrangement, also includes a bomb-launching device characterized by mechanical means compensating the live force of the bomb coming from the forward motion of the aircraft, of such a sort that at the moment in which it leaves the balloon, to fall, it finds itself completely at rest and consequently follows a purely vertical path.
That is, flight momentum is a factor to be compensated for. It is not treated as an asset in this particular bombing context. All of the aiming precision found herein is based on isolating the aiming process, and the dropping of the bomb, from the effects of the aircraft's motive force. Likewise, in turn, the aircraft's continued flight is insulated from any interruptions related to the dropping of the bomb. All of this likely coincides with an improved use of precise cartography in the aero-military context.
The spring, instead of being compressed mechanically, is compressed by way of air or other available fluid, under pressure. The bomb door re-situates itself automatically, as it empties, in such a way that its center of gravity constantly remains in balance with the entirety of the system.
