This is a patent for 5 years.

  • Inventor location: Orges, département Haute-Marne
  • Inventor occupation: desservant, possibly meaning servant, or assistant

The number 5429 is garnered from INPI's cote du dossier, a number which may have been assigned much later by INPI.

This is a pas de numéro de dépôt entre 1791-1844. Actually they show 1BA5429 but I don't see a need for the 1BA.

Original number: 7207

Note: Additions are contained in the same scanned file as the original on INPI. Each of these constituted a “Brevet du Perfectionnement et d’Addition”. We have reason to believe that this patent, inclusive of its additions, has a total of 39 pages, text and diagram all totalled.

Regarding patent classification, “06. MARINE ET NAVIGATION/06.4 AEROSTATION, AVIATION” is applied retroactively. “Aërostats” (note the ë, rather than é) may actually have served as a “classification”. The spelling actually does turn up, in French, in antique contexts[1] At this point in time, we must remember, classification systems were at a very early stage of evolution.
