The Mannheimer Verein fur Luftschiffahrt "Zahringen" or Mannheim Association for Aerial Navigation "Zahringen" was established on 1 Dec. 1908. It joined the DLV in 1908. Its office address was the headquarters of the Deutscher Luftflotten-Vereins or the German Air Forces Association.
In 1909-1910, Carl Reiss was chairman and Lieut.-General von Nieber was vice chairman. In 1910, there were 285 members, including 5 balloon guides. The association owned one free balloon and for its balloon place used then Stadtisches Gaswerk (Municipal Gasworks) Lugenberg at Mannheim.
