Mentions expedition initiated by Prince Albert of Monaco, aboard his yacht the Princess Alice, using balloon and kite ascents for meteorological readings. Which aroused the interest of the Kaiser and led to the use of the German messenger-boat Sleipnir and then the Planet for similar purposes. These included trials of methods for sending up instruments with balloons (Registrierballons)
