Gustave Delage
Gustave Delage, properly Paul Aristide Gustave Delage (born 8 March 1883 in Limoges - died 20 April 1946 à Paris)[1] was a Naval officer, an inventor, largely though not exclusively aeronautic, and a businessman.
From 1909, he interested himself in aviation and in its naval applications. Despite his illness in Toulon, on 29 August 1910 he obtained, in Vincennes, "brevet de pilote n° 219" of the Aéro-Club de France, then "brevet de pilote militaire n° 23".
In September 1911 he led a squadron participating in military manœuvres in the Ardennes. On 14 December 1912, he made his first flight in a French navy hydroplane.
Placed, for the time being, outside the service, he was named technical director of the Établissements Nieuport and general director of its Airplane Department, in 1914.
We have him addressed at 46 Boulevard du Point du Jour, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Seine; France.[2]
We have Delage assigning American patent rights to Société Anonyme des Établissements Nieuport, with Chas. P. Pressly and Victor Dupont as witnesses.[3] Dupont et Elluin often act as the patent agents serving Société Anonyme des Établissements Nieuport when these latter file in France.
