Dutch patent classifications

A Dutch patent system was launched in 1912. A much earlier one had existed when the Netherlands were part of earlier empires but that one is too early for much aero.

The classification "62" is treated as a segue from later IPC information into the older Dutch systems. See IdT classification. More definitively, it is the broadly aeronautical "Klasse", which is further divided into "Groeps", which follow in the manner of decimals after the initial "62.". Such further subdivisions as NL 62.15c seem to be more rare. On the other hand we have NL 74a.19. Note the "a" subdivision qualifier, preceding the decimal. The related patent, Patent NL-1913-2026, was still found via "62". This may be our only case of an antique, and national, classification, being retroactively and digitally applied, with effects on our gathering of data.

It may be noted, in the nature of this, that Dutch aero-patents will be designated in terms both of "Klasse" and "Groepe". That is, seemingly, no individual patent will be merely designated "Klasse 62", but almost all do apparently fall into said "Klasse", and all may be found via mere "62".

In terms of our international comparisons, Klasse, which will be differentiated from its non-Dutch analogues, some of which have the same spelling, is a patent class, with Groep being a subclass. This latter likewise has its obvious cognates, generally with variations in the spelling.

As said, this system with its Klasses and Groeps is semantically similar to the German system. Variable influence of the German system upon other systems is being assessed.
