Chase and Kirchner lay out their system of using aeroplanes to power railroad cars. They thank Prof. John E. Davies, physicist at University of Wisconsin, and Prof. Samuel Pierpont Langley of the Smithsonian Institution, specifically citing his Experiments in Aerodynamics.

See ch. 5 for a description of the system, which uses straight-as-possible tracks and banks of aeroplanes attached to cars.

See Patent GB-1894-1445.
