Gives us a little more information about the important yet obscure Armengaud family.

The subject of this obituary is M. Charles Armengaud jeune, (b. 29 July 1813) who died in a car accident in 1893. This cannot be the same "Armengaud jeune" who published Le Problème de l'Aviation in 1909! (We think the latter is Jules-Alexis-Marie Armengaud, a.k.a. J. Armengaud jeune.)

The introduction says that Charles Armengaud jeune's brother, Jacques Armengaud aîné, died in 1891. The latter could be a good fit for the name "Armengaud aîné" which appears on patents – but this name, too, appears after Jacques Armengaud's death. It seems the titles aîné and jeune are used to distinguished the older and younger brother, and may have been passed down to the next generation in the same format.

Both brothers, according to the intro, were instrumental informing the Syndicat des Ingénieurs-Conseils, which played a leading role in the French patent system.

Casalonga in his speech also pays homage to Jacques Armengaud aîné, and mentions that his son, "M. Eugène Armengaud aîné" is currently the present of the Syndicat. He confirms that Charles Armengaud's son and successor is "M. Jules Armengaud jeune".
