CPC stands for the Cooperative Patent Classification and Y10 is a set of technology categories not classified elsewhere.[1][2]

Category tree under CPC Y:[1][2]

  • CPC Y: General tagging of new technological developments; general tagging of cross-sectional technologies spanning several sections of the IPC; Technical subjects covered by former USPC cross-reference art collections (XRACs) and digests
    • CPC Y02
    • CPC Y10: Technical subjects covered by former USPC
      • CPC Y10S: Technical subjects covered by former USPC cross-reference art collections (XRACs) and digests ; This subclass was introduced in July 2012 to accommodate for technical subjects formerly covered by USPC cross-reference art collections [XRACs] and digests
      • CPC Y10T: Technical subjects covered by certain former USPC classifications. This subclass was introduced in January 2015. CPC Y10T403 has about the same categories as USPC 403 did, YT1074 has what USPC 74 had, and so forth. Possibly not all USPCs ported over in this way but we don't see specifics yet.
