Basil de Burgh Newth was an aero inventor of New Zealand and Australia.
He joined an expedition in 1897 to establish a meteorological observatory at Mount Kosciuszko in New South Wales.[1] Apparently he remained involved in this project, as he was the observer in charge at the station during the winter (June) of 1899.[2]
