German patent category 62, which we call DE 62, and especially the subset DE 62b is for aviation and appears late in our period, replacing the parts of DE 77 that included aero and aviation, we think.

Researcher Sophia Rishyna, examining the period 1933 to 1942, says the patent class 62 at that time is clearly designated solely for aviation. It looks like kites and toy aeroplanes are still in DE 77f at that time.

She tells us:

"The patent class is furthermore divided into

  • 62a: Airships, balloons,
  • 62b: Aircraft, with dynamic lift (kites and aeroplanes as toys 77f), and
  • 62c: General aviation equipment."

This wiki has 0 patents in category "DE 62".
