The Ligue National Suisse pour la Navigation Aérienne or the Swiss National League for Aerial Navigation', apparently also called Ligue Suisse pour la Navigation Arienne, was founded 22 Nov. 1908 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Ligue National Suisse pour la Navigation Aérienne was founded by balloonist and glider pilot Alexander Liwentaal on 22 Nov. 1908. (At this time, no Swiss person had yet flown an aeroplane in Switzerland. Liwentaal became that man when he tested the Dragonfly in September 1909.) The initial officers included Phelps, president; Dr. Dopfner and Dr. Jur. Schibler, vice presidents; and Dr. R. J. Hodel, secretary.
