The Silver Dart was an experimental aircraft built by the Aerial Experiment Association in 1908. It first flew in February 1909, piloted by J. A. D. McCurdy, in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. On its fifth flight in August 1909 it crashed and was damaged beyond repair.

"The Silver Dart’s name was inspired by the silvery balloon silk that covered the aircraft’s frame."[1] (This silk does not seem to be prominent in images of the aircraft.)

Certain patents associated with the Silver Dart were handed off when the AEA was disbanded.[2]
