Objectives:

  • (1) several narrow airplane wings on each side of the body . . . open wing structure [that is, open spaces] reduce the likelihood of a hit by a "shot in combat." (A military or safety objective)
  • (2) and: a plurality of metallic wings . . . act as braces for the airplane." How? Ah, in one diagram they are shown as connected at the wingtip, forming a kind of multiplane or box-kite structure. That can provide stability. In the text it is suggested however that they are both vertically and horizontally displaced -- multiplane ad tandem wings both.
  • (3) "A further object of the invention is to provide an airplane of skeleton construction [using] a main supporting spar and a number of separate metallic wings on each side of the body, these wings acting as braces."
  • Tech class CPC B64C39/068: Aircraft not otherwise provided for having disc- or ring-shaped wings having multiple wings joined at the tips
  • Inventor location: Winnsboro, Fairfield county, South Carolina, US
