  • From google patents abstract: "128,999. Blackburn Aeroplane & Motor Co., Booth, H., and Copley, J. W. Sept. 17, 1917. Steering.-A rudder-bar for aeroplanes and other aircraft is made in two portions each pivoted at its inner end and adjustable connected at its outer end to the rudder connexions, thereby providing adjustment for use by aviators having different lengths of leg. Fig. 2 shows a bar comprising two parts 1, 2 pivoted at 3 and connected by adjustable plates 7, 8 to the rudder connexions 5, 6 and to rubber or other resilient connexions 9, 10 secured to the nose of the fuselage. In place of the adjustable plates 7, 8, turnbuckles may be provided in the connexions 5, 6."
