"... [Cognate Application, 23,776/09.] Kites. A box, monoplane, or bi-plane kite, or similar aerial machine flown with a string or cord, is provided with a small propeller adapted to assist the kite to rise and afterwards to be freely rotated by the wind to steady the kite in flight. The kite cord W is originally wound on the spindle T of the propeller S and is drawn off to rotate the propeller as the kite rises. When fully unwound the cord slips out of a notch N, Fig. VI, in the spindle T and is retained by a bead P in a hole 0 in the belly-band E leaving the propeller free to be rotated by the wind. When the kite is of the box or bi-plane pattern the space between the front and rear cells or planes is roofed in to provide a continuous upper surface. It is stated in the Provisional Specification that the propeller may be rotated by a piece of elastic or by other motor."
