The María Cristina was an airship constructed by the atelier of Gabriel Yon in Paris for the Servicio Telegráfico de Ingenieros of Spain. The project was initiated in 1886 by colonel Lícer López de la Torre and lieutenant Anselmo Tirado. The balloon was part of an "aerostatic train" system with three cars, including one for producing hydrogen.[1]
