George Louis Outram Davidson was an aero inventor who designed an ornithopter and later a "gyropter". He started a company called Davidson's Gyropter Flying Machine, Ltd.
"To Mr. G. L. O. Davidson belongs the idea of a bird-shaped glider, the tail of which has movable parts, provided with automatic mechanism for regulating the balance and stability. It appears to have glided satisfactorily, but its significance was little after Langley's experiments."[1]
