Delaunay is an aeronautical engineer, late chief engineer of Bréguet Aeroplanes, Limited.

He describes recent tests conducted at the Institut aérotechnique at St. Cyr. (He notes that the Institut has already published reports for 1912 and 1913 and he also suggests that these findings be compared with the reports from the Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, the work of Gustave Eiffel and the reports of the Koutchino Institute of Aerodynamics .

One of his comments:

In order to compare the results on full scale wings with the results obtainable from measurements on small models, M. Eiffel tested in his wind channel at Auteuil the models of some types of wings tested at Saint-Cyr. The diagrams show the differences between the results, and no specific law seems capable of giving a satisfactory explanation for these differences. From the experiments and theories of the Advisory Committee for Aeronautics it seems that the wings should improve when their size increases, as the speed was nearly the same in the tests on full scale aerofoils (18 to 23 metres /sec.) or their models (about 20 metres (sec.). It will be easy to see from the diagrams that such is not always the case.

The article shows some of the airfoil types that were tested, with detailed cross-sections, and graphs showing their performance.
