Daniel Asbury

Daniel Asbury was an aero inventor from North Carolina who developed an flying machine circa 1880 near Charlotte. This aircraft had foot pedals for flapping the thirty-foot wings as well as possibly steam-powered side propellers. A test flight was was supposed to take place in January 1881. There are rumors that this airplane flew but little hard evidence, and Asbury himself died in 1882.[1]
