[Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Balancing; shock of landing, deadening.-A depending rod 1, slidable in guides 2, 3 on the frame 9 of an aeroplane, is provided with a heavy mass 4 at its lower end and tends to preserve equilibrium when lowered with the aid of a cord 7 controlled by the aviator. A spring 5 is interposed between the weight and a collar 6 on the rod to deaden the shock on landing."
