"22,120. Gustiana, A. Nov. 6. Steering.-The shaft b of a steering-plane a, movable about three axes at right-angles to one another so as to serve as a rudder and elevator, is rotatably mounted in a ring c carried by a second ring c' which is mounted on hollow trunnions f in an outer ring g pivoted in the upper and lower prongs i of a forked tailframe j of the aircraft. The shaft b is axially rotated by cables e, secured to a drum d on the shaft and passing through the hollow trunnions f, h of the rings c<1>, g. The shaft is inclined vertically by cords m secured to the shaft and passing through the trunnion h, and is moved sideways by cords k attached to the lateral extremities of the ring g.
