Patent BE-1835-Madinier

From Inventing aviation

(This is patent of ten years, and seems to be a mere "improvement". In later Belgian data we have it established that "brevets" were themselves were of "invention" variety, or of the "perfectionnement" variety. This is technically or semantically different from the French system in which the "certificat d'addition" was differentiated from the "brevet", though this is a particularly national administrative and semantic detail, with the "certificat d'addition" carrying equal legal status.)

(Again, our apologies on this incomplete data. The conventions of documentation during this period, including the mixing of printed numerals with inserted handwritten numerals, along with antique script and the abbreviation thereof, lead to some difficulty. Pistons, along with steam propulsion more generally, seem to have factored in quite heavily during these years.)
