Richard Matthews Ruck

Major General Richard Matthews Ruck (1851–1935) was a British engineer in the military.

In 1905, then-Colonel Ruck was the Director of Fortification and Works, UK War Office.[1]

He was Chairman of Council of the Aeronautical Society of Great Britain from 1912–1919. In 1920 he was named a Knight of the British Empire.[2]

In World War I, Ruck was Chief Engineer of the Central Force, responsible for defense of London and the coast. He was also Vice-President of the Air Ministry's Air Inventions Committee, and part of the Civil Aerial Transport Committee.[2]
