René Colin was an aero inventor in Strasbourg. He had many patents on engines, and a couple on aircraft.
On an unrelated British patent he gave his occupation as Engineer, and gave this address: 7-9 Gewerbstaubenstrasse, Strassburg, Alsace, Germany. One may infer that he was basically French or Alsatian, not German. Germany had taken over this region in 1871.
On a 1922 patent he gave his address as rue Lenôtre, 4, Strasbourg, Bas-Rhin departement. This region had returned to France after WWI.
