Nils H. Randers-Pehrson. "Aeronautics in the District of Columbia". Records of the Columbia Historical Society, Washington D.C., Vol. 46/46, 1944/1945. JSTOR.

(Same issue as Zahm, 1944. Both have actually been written in 1945.)

Goes back to early ballooning in Maryland & Virginia (Peter Carnes, Charles Ferson Durant, Jean-Pierre Blanchard, Nicholas J. Ash), spends some time on the civil war. Then goes to Samuel Pierpont Langley, Alexander Graham Bell, Albert Francis Zahm, and then to the Wright Brothers military trials (U.S. Army Signal Corps, College Park).

By the way: "The first all-Washington airplane appeared in 1911, when the Rex Smith plane was equipped with a Berliner engine, both plane and engine Washington made."
