Philip Henry Smith was a US aero inventor. On his British patent he characterized his occupation as Gentleman, and gave the address of Pawling, Dutchess county, New York state.[1] His US patent was under the name Philip H. Smith, and it took a while to find it. The British and French patents appear to be copies of it. The British one was filed before the American one was granted, and perhaps for this reason, does not refer to the American one.
