"This application is a continuation of my earlier application, Serial No. 692,269, filed April 22, 1912." Aeroplane constructors have concentrated the heavy parts (motor, fuel+tank, aviator) into a compact space in the fuselage. Concentrating the mass this way makes it easier for gusts to buffet the craft. For longitudinal stability, split the mass into three separate places in a triangle shape when viewed from front or back. Patent does not offer further specifics. (Apparent error: Family year says 1916 but other columns say this is supplementary to a 1912 patent)

  • Tech classification CPC B64C39/08: Aircraft not otherwise provided for having multiple wings
  • Inventor location: Chicago, Cook county, IL (FIPSloc=17031 imputed by HistPat)
