"9354. Lazarte, E. June 25. Mountings. Relates to anti-aircraft guns, and consists in the combination therewith, for sighting purposes, of a camera obscura the casing of which is made of armour-plate to afford protection for the gunner. The gun 12, Fig. 3, is carried by a frame-piece 10, pivoted at 11 to a pivoted yoke 7 and is thus capable of universal movement about the centre of the lens 4. The image of an aeroplane t, for example, is received on the surface 3, which is marked with co - ordinates and circles, as shown in Fig. 4. Angles of deflexion are measured radially by means of the circles, and the correction for the velocity of the target by means of the co-ordinates. The gun is directed by means of an adjustable pointer 21, which is moved at the calculated distance parallel with, and at the same speed as, the image i. The firing-lever 17 is pivoted on the frame 10 and is connected by a rod 18 with an extended trigger 16. In adapting the apparatus for naval use, the casing is mounted in a gimbal frame which may be turned to permit of horizontal firing. The surface upon which the image is received may be concave."
